By booking a session with Bad Back Barney, you're agreeing to these terms. They're written in plain English - no small print, no hidden catches.
Booking
Sessions are booked via WhatsApp. Your appointment is confirmed once you receive a confirmation message from Barney.
Sessions are 60 minutes and take place at the Bad Back Barney studio, Wokingham. The full address is provided on booking.
This service is available to adults aged 18 and over only.
What's included in a session
A session with Bad Back Barney may include any combination of the following, based on your individual needs:
Every session is tailored to you. Not everything will apply to every person.
Payment
Sessions are £60, payable at the end of your appointment by cash, card payment or bank transfer.
Insurance
Bad Back Barney is a self-funded private service. We do not accept payment from health insurance providers. All sessions must be paid for directly by the client.
If you have health insurance, you may wish to check with your provider whether you can claim back the cost of sessions independently - this is between you and your insurer.
Cancellations
We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments without notice, will be charged at the full session rate of £60.
If Barney needs to cancel your appointment, you will be offered an alternative date at no extra cost.
Money-back guarantee
If you don't feel your first session was worth the money, you'll receive a full refund. No awkward conversations, no questions asked. Just let Barney know within 48 hours of your session.
Consent
By booking and attending a session, you confirm that you give informed consent to assessment and treatment. This means you understand the nature of the service being provided and agree to take part.
You have the right to withdraw consent at any time during a session. If you do not wish to proceed with any part of the assessment or treatment, simply let Barney know and it will stop immediately. The session will continue in whatever format you are comfortable with.
Chaperones
You are welcome to bring a chaperone to any session. This might be a friend, family member, or carer. Please let Barney know in advance so the session can be arranged appropriately. Your comfort and safety are the priority.
Session environment
The Bad Back Barney studio is a private, professional space. We ask that all clients treat the environment and the practitioner with respect. Barney reserves the right to end a session if a client behaves in a way that is inappropriate, threatening, or unsafe, and the full session fee will apply in such circumstances.
Safeguarding
Bad Back Barney is committed to providing a safe environment for all clients. Barney is a trained and HCPC-registered physiotherapist and operates in line with professional safeguarding standards.
If at any point during a session you feel uncomfortable, you have the right to stop the session immediately. You are also entitled to request that any hands-on treatment is not carried out, and the session will continue in a different format.
If Barney has any safeguarding concerns arising from a session, he has a professional duty to act on these appropriately, which may include contacting relevant authorities.
Scope of service
Bad Back Barney provides musculoskeletal physiotherapy assessment and treatment for back pain. Sessions are carried out by an HCPC-registered, physiotherapist.
This service is not a substitute for emergency medical care. If you are experiencing symptoms that may require urgent attention — including severe pain, loss of bladder or bowel control, numbness or weakness in both legs, or pain following a significant trauma — please contact your GP or call 999 immediately.
Barney reserves the right to decline or end a session if he believes a client requires a level of care beyond the scope of this service, and will provide appropriate onward referral advice where needed.
Your health information
You'll be asked about your health and medical history as part of your assessment. This information is kept confidential and stored securely in line with GDPR. It is used solely to inform your treatment and will not be shared with any third party without your consent, except where required by law.
You have the right to request access to any information held about you at any time.
Your responsibility
Please arrive on time for your session. If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time and the full fee applies.
Please inform Barney of any changes to your health, medication, or relevant medical history before your session.
Insurance cover
Bad Back Barney Ltd holds full professional indemnity and public liability insurance. This means you are protected in the unlikely event that something goes wrong as a direct result of the treatment provided.
Liability
Bad Back Barney Ltd takes all reasonable care to provide a safe and professional service. However, we cannot accept liability for any loss, injury, or damage arising from failure to disclose relevant medical information, or from failure to follow advice given during a session.
Photography and testimonials
We may occasionally ask clients if they are willing to provide a testimonial or photograph for use in marketing materials. This will always be asked explicitly and you are under no obligation to agree. Your care and treatment will not be affected in any way by your decision.
No photographs or identifying information will ever be used without your express written permission.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your session or the service provided, please contact Barney directly in the first instance — he would always rather know and have the chance to put things right.

Bad Back Barney reserves the right to update these terms at any time. The current version will always be available at badbackbarney.com. Continued use of the service following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
